- Flemish (Vlaams) or Belgian Dutch is the Dutch language as spoken in Flanders, the northern part of Belgium.Differences between Flemish and Dutch are minimal. Using Flemish for the official language in Flanders is misleading: the only official language in Flanders is standard Dutch.
